Body & physical health
Chronic pain, sleep, energy — the body you've been ignoring.
The body keeps score. Eventually it stops asking quietly.
Most people arrive at a physical health crisis having ignored a long series of smaller signals. The fatigue that was explained away. The pain that was managed rather than investigated. The sleep that became a target to optimize rather than something the body actually needed.
Dipa Ma practiced through conditions that most people would use as reasons to stop. What she understood was that the body is not an obstacle to the examined life — it is where the examined life actually happens. The question is not how to override it but how to listen to what it is trying to say.
Starting a real practice is not about discipline. It is about honesty: what does my body actually need, and what have I been trading that for?
What signal has your body been sending that you have been translating as "deal with later"?
What would you have to stop — or admit — to actually take care of this?
What does rest mean to you, and when did you last actually do it?
